Question: Is it a good idea to work on a poem for a year or two!?
*****
SOFTNESS

Whispered words melt,
passing by,
The thoughts inside tumble,
as you smile,

Strands of hair part
for an ear strained
to listen,

Then,
falling to the ground,
spilled sounds,
bend the blades
of grass…

If the time spent concludes with imagery such as this, it is surely worth the effort!.

I am always amazed when poets brag they have written a poem in five or ten minutes!. Most, if not all, of these express poems are really 'pomes!.' (Dondi is the exception!. The poems are in his head long before he writes them down)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have to work on a poem for that period of time, tells me you are not a poet!.
My friend is a published poet with books!. She told me a long time ago when I asked, how long does it take you!. Her answer was simply-the time it takes me to get my thoughts down on paper!. On the computer now!. Some of her poems are one page long!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
