Question: Can you capture the essence of this child in a poem!?
Alone at night, young girl in her bed, hears voices from parents' room through the wall!.
"What's the matter, Dottie, aren't I as good as Herb!?" her father angrily shouted!.
"Oh, Abe, please don't do this to me again!."
Young girl trembled, pulled her sheets up to her chin, as though she feared a vampire would appear and suck her blood dry!. For nine months while mother was gone, seeking love from Herb, her father's bed became her prison, a living hell!. Though her mother she never told!.
Again the screaming came, mixed with mother's tears!.
Their headboard knocked against the wall, young girl thought, no ones home, go away!.
The next morn she awoke, first one up she was sure as she quietly stepped down two flights of stairs!. She entered the kitchen to see she had been wrong!. Mother was standing by sink, holding a knife, head bowed!. Mother turned her head to see daughter standing there!. Both
faces communicated awash with tears!. Mother searched her daughter's eyes as if waiting for permission!. Daughter in that moment became mother to mother and slowly approached!. She gently surrounded handle of knife with young fingers!. With eyes she spoke, simply saying, "I know!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
She sits facing the windowless wall,
her back to the door while
discourse eats away logic
in the front room
and her hand
grows numb from hanging!.
She gathers a breath, shallow
from an anxious series
of moments, and blows it
out while she waits for the next one!.
She unties her thoughts, laying them out
on the ground at her feet
and they tangle
again, uncooperative!.
She says some words out loud;
nonsense, mostly,
and wishes she could own them
and learn from them!.
The door behind her squeaks
inward, a tiny face looks on!. “Have you
eaten dessert!?”
The episode passes
and a smile forces itself!. “What have we got!?
Pie!?”
This thing has to stop, she thinks,
And she smells the hot apple
on her way to the kitchen,
breathing
without really trying!.

Sunken hopes, set in wet sockets!. Sightless, beyond the wall of black evil, having been blinded with the horrors of humanity!. Crimson tears sealing the moment, life starts at the dead end!.
