Question: Is this a sad or happy tale!?
A Tale to Tell

There was a bright young man
whose pain was far too great
his load he sought to rid!.

Splendid student in school
felt scorn from his own peers
so found another way!.

"Rebel I'll be," said he
many mistakes were made
anger became his friend!.

To bottle he did take
his soul he did forsake
no answers did he find!.

His back he turned by choice
to family without care
indignant in his stance!.

Despite this lonely walk
he found his own true love
she eased his misery!.

Yet still the pain remained
his load he carried on
until a book he read!.

Inspired, he reached for pen
the page soaked up his wrath
his burdens he left there!.

The morale of this tale!?
We find our ways to cope
life's meant to give us joy!.

Disclaimer: This is fictitious,
the character a combination of
many young men I've "mothered!."
Some who've found their way
some who are still searching
for their own way to cope!.

I really like that ma!.
Coping however kind of sounds like just keeping your head above water,
still floundering & out of our depth!.
Could you say instead manage "we all find our own ways to manage"
It gives us the power if we are managing rather than just coping!.
Thanks ma, love your stuff!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This tale has pathos, it joins and embodies both the happy and the sad!. I am certain that reaching for a pen has saved many a poignantly conflicted young man from reaching for a bottle!. And with you on their side, they had every chance in the world of bending the tragic to the joyful!. You are a blessing!. Thank you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is a revelation!.I have been to the depth of despair and found by writing my burdens down on paper, my rage,my anger, my frustrations,my hurts,my fears all seemed much less after doing so!.
It is like a cleansing of the soul, mind and heart!.It is the enema of enemas!.Sometimes it is really good to get rid of all that sh##@#
that has invaded your life!.Life is meant to be joyous!.You deserve it to be so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A little of both,

Sad as he would have missed out on so much from his family, etc, but hey, it was his choice to make!.

Middle of the road, as he finds solace in true love!.

Then happy as he finds his release!.!.!.!.and he still has his true love, of course!.

Although we don't know the content of his pages or what their purpose may be!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.sorry!.!.!.!.!.that's just the old cynic in me, lol!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We all have within us the wherewithal to open new doors- a desire to do so, and determination is the key!.

But, sometimes it needs the help of outside forces to make that initial move to get up and approach the door!. I've helped my sons' friends in the past (a glue sniffer, a few drug addicts, thieves)!.!.!. sadly one died a couple are still on methadone, but a few others made it through!. My feeling towards them all is!.!.!.!.!.their lives could have been my sons' lives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's a sad tale for those who don't make it, but a very happy tale for those who find friends like you and ways to cope!. Some of the greatest art comes in the resolution of life's pains!. Joy is always a possibility, if not a reality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I remember saying "I'm tired of existing, I want to live"
Then I started to write on the dare of another "Ma"
I really appreciate this poem, and all the "Ma s" who have have come into my life, especially you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it's a happy tale!.

if anyone finds a true love and that love can ease your misery, that's a good thing!.
if a person can find a way to cope, that is also a good thing!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

At each stanza my mood changed from sad to malinconia to sad and back again!.

It's as if you wrote my tale except for the "drinking"!.

The line "until a book he read" made me smile!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The 'moral' of the story is easier said than done!.!. and yet it is a happy tale Ma!. A very happy tale!.!.even if it is but a dream!.
