Question: I need help understanding a poem!.!?
the poem is:

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold!.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour!.
Then leaf subsides to leaf!.
So Eden sank to greif,
So dawn goes down to day!.
Nothing gold can stay!.
-Robert Frost

Have you ever read "The Outsiders" by S!.E!. Hinton!? It's where I first encountered the poem!.

Nature's first green represents youth, new life, a new beginning!.!.!.gold represents the purity and preciousness of it all!.
But as with time and experience all things eventually change!.
You can't hold back time !.!.!.even Eden (paradise) was changed; and dawn changes to day and day to night and the cycle continues!.!.!.
It's an inevitable change!.
The positive is that change is a means to make way for something different, something new (green)!.
The negative (if you need to look for one) is that you lose your innocence and all it represents!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is a season for everything and everything is in constant change!. whether it be life or nature, it all continues to go through various cycles, just as the seasons do!.!. It will not remain the same!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

My favorite poem by frost!. The poem talks about how nothing good lasts forever!.!.it always fades away (some associate this poem with just physical beauty, but thats for you to decide)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'll defer to the FrostHeads, but ashes to ashes, dust to dust, nothing lasts forever,!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
