Okay, I have never written a poem before and needed to for school!. I tried my best and need some help/revision/advice for what I did below!. Any input helps!. *Note I never written a poem before!. This is suppose to be in Yankee doodle style, which only the first seems to fit that, but I felt I liked writing my own way for a topic like this!. also, ignore the punctuation!. I am fixing that last!.
Fellow soldier and I went down to chow
Along with Colonel C
We looked around and wondered how
Us Marines can eat Mr!. E!.
And there was General Petraeus,
A-Ridin' in his Humvee,
Commanding his troops on the ground,
Who couldn't be that comfy!.
Bush and Cheney sent us to Iraq,
To look for W!.o!.M!.D!.
Eyes to the ground, they looked around,
but none did they discover!.
We looked around and saw the destruction,
The howitzer seemed to get only louder
and wondered when we'll be out of this situation
Only seeing gun powder
There we saw a wooden casket
With a flag drapped over the top
A fallen hero we stand beforth
With the feeling time has stopped!.
With the trumpets signalling the end of the ceremony
Everyone around is distrought
To what has happened
With only one single thought
With everything I have witnessed
I can not say what I saw
With everything I have been through
