Here’s To You My Friend
Here’s to you my friend
so happy you let me in
Hanging on to this rope
your sweet voice brought me hope
As my sun arose today
I knew there had to be a way
To remember how you remind me
How my past does not define me
Stuck in darkness all alone
I held your picture by the phone
All these tears all those miles
can’t erase all your smiles
Words alone can’t say enough
hearing your words was oh so tough
How I wish you were near me
with my pen I hope you hear me
Here and now I want to thank you
I will never judge or rank you
After me no one above you
I don’t have to say I Love You
My actions will always show it
Then as now you will know it
This is a perfect time to start
with open arms I share my heart
So here’s to you my friend
I’m so happy you let me in
Of tomorrow I’m not sure
please help me open this door
Let’s see what’s waiting there
and on my heart I truly swear
I’ll never ever let you down
listen close to this sweet sound
It’s my heart beating again
So here’s to you my friend

Then, as quick

doubt ensnared me

I agree with Maddamselfly on the happy writing bit, that's whats hard for me to write, and I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing it's hard for you to write too!.
Stanza seven seemed to contradict itself, and not in away that was ironic, with the "I'm so happy you let me in" / "Please help me open this door" lines!. I was cruising along nicely until that stanza, but whats one little speed bump to get in the way of this heart felt message!. I gotta run somebody's knocking !. !. !. a no, wait, that's the heart I keep in my top drawer!.
