Morning Lament
I wake from sleep and see your face,
And kiss your lips so fine!.
It makes me proud that I am yours,
And proud that you are mine!.
The touch upon my sleepy cheeks,
Of hands so soft and warm!.
All thoughts of you are jumbled up,
As in my head they swarm!.
Your body as it lies by me,
Makes me not want to stir!.
It feels much better to me than,
A puppy with thick fur!.
Your eyes so clear look back at me,
Your smile will melt my heart!.
Your lips on mine is sweeter than,
The sugar on a tart!.
My love for you says I should stay,
But reason tells me no!.
So out of bed I take myself,
And off to work I go!.
