Question: Why is it !? How and when did it become!? Where is it written !?
These are general questions, not something pointed at any one person, nor does this apply exclusively to what I see here on Y!A!. This subject came up at dinner last night and I would like to briefly explore others opinions!. Please!.
I notice a fair amount of disdain, out right hatred, spurning, shunning, condescending comments, scornful dismissal and snickering when it comes to light hearted poems, love poems or poems of an emotional nature!. I fail to understand the attitudes I have seen displayed!.
Is not emotional expression the roots of formal poetry when it progressed beyond factual event recitation by traveling musicians and poets !?
Where is it written that poems have to have be about darkness !? Or they have to be impersonal !? Or must have some deep imponderable meaning that is only obtained after a religious amount of reflection !?
I know there is a slew of emotional poems that are poorly written, by young and old alike, ( myself included ) and rather tedious to get through,,, the same can be said for any other subject though!.
I, personally, am not afraid of stepping on toes with what I write,,, I go with what I know best!.
Anyone have an enlightening thought here !?

As for the disdain, out right hatred, spurning, shunning, condescending comments, scornful dismissal and snickering, I just stay away from that whether reading comments or writing them!.
I like the light-hearted whimsical poems that play with language in different ways!. also ones that lead me into deep thought then WHAM a burst of laughter from one funny line!.
I respect anything anybody writes as long as it shows some reflective thought behind it!.

I have been incredibly blessed to not have experienced the kind of responses you have described!. Your argument is valid and worthy of discussion!. For me, if it is honest and moves me, be it light, deep, dark, humorously "out there," it matters not in the least!. I want to read something that moves me, takes me to places I couldn't go unless having read the words!.

It's not written anywhere!.!.!.but apparently a few believe it to be etched in stone!. Don't believe I've ever noted a primer on proper poetry!.
When what is penned, comes from the heart and soul of the writer!.!.!.

it is written for discerning eyes to see the where of the heart!.
Certain members became malicious and spiteful towards others!.!.!.no reason for that whatsoever!
