GRAY SKIES
A birdsong whispers through the cool Autumn breezes
as the brown leaves swirl to the ground,
I stand in middle as the North wind teases
and the goose-bump shivers all around,
The dog stays barking at the hurried little squirrel
while he gathers up nuts he has found,
He don’t care much about the troubles of the world
as he looks for walnuts and pecans,
I look around as the clouds turn to Winter
when the chill in the air freezes down,
Summertime’s crack, and shattered to splinters
And the snow is heading into town…

TD, there is nothing about this poem that I don't love!. It's melodic and as soothing!. The theme ushers in the new season with a feeling of comfort like a favorite old sweater or blanket!. The first stanza and especially the last two lines of it are my favorite!. Autumn at its finest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I really like the poem and the way "found" and "pecans" did not rhyme (at least not to my New Englander's ear) but letting you know something was about to happen!.!.!.Summertime's crack is a great line!Www@QuestionHome@Com

fall is our favorite… felt summer crack way back at the end of july… didn’t frost but came very close… stunted all our shrubs growth… yet summer still has breath even now… suppose we like it… is ominous and scary… in a subtle removed sort of way… Www@QuestionHome@Com
