To Dream The Impossible Dream

“Come, come follow me,” said the little gnome,
And he beckoned with a wave of his hand!.
“Be not afraid, I would like you to visit my home
Where we may dance to the woods fairy band”!.

He skipped through the trees with a merry laugh,
Still beckoning us on with his hand!.
While my sister and I hurried through the grass,
Looking forward to the music of a fairies band!.

The little gnome stopped at the bole of a tree,
Into which had been carved an ornate round door!.
Reaching into his pocket he found the doors key
And on entering we saw fairies lining a dance floor!.

We looked in disbelief at the size of the room,
For it was far larger inside than without!.
The ceiling was open to the night’s full moon,
And the stars came down like a tornadoes spout!.

They sparkled and shone like a glitter ball might!.
And the fairies danced around us in joyous fun
While the fairy band played as we danced all night
Until in our beds we awoke with the rising the sun!.

Jumping out of the warmth we met up in the hall
And we told of our adventure in muffled scream!.
Both amazed that we had been to the same ball,
And that we had dreamed the same dream!.
