Question: What does a lack of commenting on your work mean!?
I have heard on this forum and too many others, that a lack of comments on your poem could be a comment in and of itself and usually not a good one!. What is your take on this!? Do you think this is always the case!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have often passed over your poems because I suffer from chronic depression and find that your poems often make me feel worse!. I sometimes don't even want to look at your avatar, which looks to me like a person in the process of decomposing!. I don't enjoy telling you this, it may very well hurt you!. But I take the risk in the hope that it just might help you also!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

on this forum it may well just be the time of day you asked your question!.

there is some truth to a lack of comments being a comment unto itself!.

is this "always" the case !? Nothing is normally that simple to be an "always" case!.

In my case, not speaking for anyone else,,, I never answer a question that appears to be homework where interpretation is required or someone begging for a poem to be written or researched!. If you wrote a poem and want advice I may help!.

Some folks are too sensitive with their submissions and badger you if you say anything negative to them,,, they get ignored as well!.

sometimes I simply do not know the answer being sought

No, lack of comment might mean that the work is too complex for some!. They do not know what to think, so they do not comment!. I often read questions that I do not feel I can answer, either I'm not interested or someone has already given an answer close to what I might reply with!.

Sometimes when you post, few people are around or its late or too early for some!. It does depend on your timing!.

If you do not get feedback on your poems it might mean that people do not understand them, often modern poetry is a little too much for some!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Love is the greatest feeling,
Love is like a play,
Love is what I feel for you,
Each and every day,
Love is like a smile,
Love is like a song,
Love is a great emotion,
That keeps us going strong,
I love you with my heart,
My body and my soul,
I love the way I keep loving,
Like a love I can't control,
So remember when your eyes meet mine,
I love you with all my heart,
And I have poured my entire soul into you,
Right from the very start!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi Joy, I live in an opposite time zone to my regular contacts and commenters!. Sometimes they just plain miss my questions - there are days when there is a massive amount of traffic on forums and with people writing new stuff, frankly it is hard to catch up!. Some people leave just stars of encouragement!. The email alert is not always working too!. Don't get too precious about no or few answers!. It happens!. Not always a reflection on the quality of your work!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that poetry is very personal, from the author's standpoint and the reader's standpoint!. I don't think commenting is necessary unless it is very obscure (i!.e!. people just don't understand it) and you want to elaborate what inspired you to write it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Poetry could exist all by itself, for the writer and a few others only, and still by great!. Anyone who says otherwise knows nothing about poetry!. Or life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't give up Joy!.!.!.Keep writing for sure and post what you will!.!.!.There are many wonderful, open minded readers and writers of poetry here!. I know I have learned a lot and met some great friends here!.!.!.Peace, RWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think a lack of commenting is just due to lazy people!.

Your work may be fantastic but most people can't be stuffed!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that there many reasons people don't respond to certain poems!. However, let me begin by saying that I can't imagine that anyone could think that your poems are not worthy!. Your poems are, undoubtedly, among the very best I've read!. Aside from that, for myself, there are several reasons I may choose not to critique or respond to a poem!. One reason is that if I can't think of anything nice to say about it, I don't say anything at all!. However, if it at least has something I like I will comment on that and then offer whatever help I can!. Another reason I might not respond is that I just don't understand where the poet is coming from!. I may like the sound of the poem, but be completely clueless as to it's meaning!. Yet, another, is that I'm often concerned that my response may sometimes come across as idle praise or redundant and this is especially true when I respond to more than one poem from a particular poet!. In this instance, I will read the poem and star it, but I will purposefully not respond!.!.!.this sounds ridiculous, I know!. I've even not responded to poets who I know are looking for serious critiques because I couldn't find anything that needed fixing!. Anyhow, I think that people don't respond for many reasons!.!.!.good or bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
