Question: In The famous Poem "The Raven" written by Edger Allen Poe, Did He Murder Lenore!? !?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Well, of course not!. It doesn't say how she died, but many of Poe's stories and poems center around the loss of a beautiful woman!.

The character is mourning the death of Lenore, and the Raven is constantly reminding that "nevermore" will he see her or know her, even after his own death!.

So you see, I'm not sure where you got the idea that he might have murdered her, but I'm sure he did not, as it would not fit with the poem's formula and, if he had in fact murdered her, it would have been stated in the poem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Guilt seems to be a common theme in Poe's work!. I think it is entirely possible that the speaker in "The Raven" murdered Lenore!. He is plagued by her memory and is driven to be suspicious of his visitors!. He obviously has something on his conscience concerning Lenore!.

When the raven enters, he sits on a bust of Pallas!. In Greek mythology, Pallas was a family member of Athena's!. Athena had accidentally killed Pallas in battle!. This could be a hint that the speaker accidentally killed Lenore!. Perhaps this is why he is haunted by her memory instead of being comforted by it!. I am glad you asked this question; I think it is vital to question the common meanings of literary works!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

We believe she is dead, as she has been sainted and named by the Angels!. We suspect he murdered her because of the other guy's tell tale heart!. He has a history with the floor, you know!. But, for me, no; she is alive and well and no longer his to adore!. His sorrow for letting her go brought along the big black bird!.

We could go over this for days!. Why do the Angels name her Lenore!? Isn't that already her name!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You could read it and find out!. It'll take all of about 10 minutes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
