I see you: strong, beautiful, tanned - mine!.
The words fly out before I know what I'm saying!.
"I love you!."
Blushing, flustered, sheepish, flushed red!.
I watch you struggle for words,
Stalling and stumbling and sputtering!.
For one-thousandth of a second,
The room is far too quiet!.
I understand what you're trying to say, and I want to run!.
I want to run far, far away!.
To a place where I can never be hurt this way!.
"I like you a lot," you say quietly!.
My heart sinks into a swamp of unimaginable depth!.
"Right," I respond, trying hard not to cry!.
"That's what I meant to say!."
