Question: Do you feel this way about the Morning!?
Inspired by Cat (Yousuf) Stevens’
rendition of the gospel song “Morning Has Broken”

Morning
by Elaine Polin

Morning,
says the Cat
Has broken!.
Morning
does not break;
it rises gently
over still waters
behind the trees
to the East
of Eden!.

Morning
fills the world,
chases night,
reveals the waters
gently,
slowly,
kindly!.
Morning
never breaks!.

Hi Elaine
This is the first time I've seen one word lines in poetry!. Sorry I'm not familiar with Cat Stevens, as I am a Bach and Mozart fanatic!.
I noticed you only capitalized the words Morning!. (East and Eden)!.
I will take my dose of LSD and read it again (ha ha)!.
Nice poem, althogh my morning is still dark:)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have conducted an experiment: and you are right!. It's rising rather gently this morning as well!. Is that Eden o'er yonder!?
Beautiful!.
From this day forward, when the Eastern sky is a soft apricot as it is today, I will tell my children: "That's what's known as an "Elainian Sun Rise"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's rare for me to like poetry this much!.

With just two simple verses this poem paints such a vivid picture!. No pretentiousness!. Excellent!.

Some mornings feel kinda like that to me!. It reminds me of camping out, waking up and feeling restless at 5am, and experiencing the morning as a slow, creeping change, as the sun takes away the dew from the grass!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

not me, your poem pulls a skin over the way the world really is!. instead of the line Morning, says the cat, has broken I would write!., Mourning, says the machine gun and starving child, has broken!. the rest of the poem would go on like that too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Elaine P!.

You took the words right out of my yawning mouth! I'll take my eggs scrambled, bacon, toast with strawberry jam and green tea!.!.!. YUM!!
Thanks for sharing and it's on to the heart of the sunrise!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Have to agree with Cat - Morning breaks the spell of the darkness of the night - then continues (gently) if you wish ;-) ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, this is a wonderful piece of writing about the beauty and mystery of Morning!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Another great way to remember, that each one brings great hope and washes away the ills of yesterday!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You said it well!.
I prefer to ease into the morning as you describe, rather than being jolted awake by the alarm clock!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the world
spins in to light
again!.

darkness
towards the glow,
perpetual Good Mornings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Semantics aside, it has risen on a nice piece, penned by you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
