I can still hear the screams!.
I put my hands over my ears
In a silent world pretending not to hear
Or know what was
Taking place; but I saw it, I knew
What was happening as my body
Standing erect, yet in a pseudo fetal position
Wanting to be in the womb
Where oblivion is bliss as hands
And body are weightless and free; but my hands were
Were not free, and my head was not
Free, and gravity was my worst enemy!.
The screams, the wailing of a
Mothers grief mixed with the horrid
Screams of agony!. And I hear them still!.
My covered ears cannot extinguish what is
Etched in my mind, hearing it, and more so
Seeing it!. Only I could hear them, I alone;
And in my womb of civilized life, I thanked God
The ones I loved could not, and
Would not know, nor see, nor would ever hear
What I heard; that terrible noise!. And to
My loved ones, I am a normal person!.
