Down and Out
Biscuits and gravy
Coffee and pie
Late night in a diner
Waitress catches my eye
My shoes are soaking
Been raining all day
My car’s in a ditch
More than a mile away
I ask for a phonebook
Or the name a wrecker
I may need a cab
Then up drives a Checker!.
But where shall I go
Where the hell I don’t know
I’m halfway from where
But no way near there
The waitress then smiles
On her blouse it says Jenny
I settle the tab
And tip her a penny
She gives me a look
That could freeze a Yeti
Then spits in my coffee
When out comes cook Betty
She asks “what’s the matter!?
Is this bloke giving you trouble”!?
Jenny says I’m a deadbeat
She wants to be paid double!.
They wrestle me to the floor
My wallet goes flyin’
Then the cabbie joins in
And I begin cryin’
My nose is all bloodied
And my crotch it feels cracked
Then I became nauseous
And the pie I up hacked!.
I crawled out the door
Feeling like a real pecker
Then there on the ground
I found keys that said Checker!.
