Where were you when the **** went down Where were you when you heard the sound What did you do when you watched the news What did you do when you saw those views Did you sit and stare with shock and dismay Did you scream and holler that someone must pay Does it make you want to fight for your freedom Does it make you want to find them and beat them Was this what it took to make you see more clearly Was this what it took to cherish life so dearly Why is it now that you’re ranting and raving Why is it now that you’re so flag waving Maybe now you’ll voice yourself loudly Maybe now you’ll stand up more proudly Don’t wait for it to happen to you Don’t wait for it to be red white and blue Now is the time to show what you’re made of Now is the time nothing to be afraid of You don’t have to die there at ground zero You don’t have to bleed to be a hero America’s my home it’s where I belong America’s my home be it right or wrong I’m glad to be here proud to believe I’m glad to be here if you’re not then leave ?rad081202Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I've read this before and love it just as much the second time around!. I agree, one does not have to be happy about some politicians, or some things America has done in the past, but we are a shinning beacon of hope for much of the world!. We can work together to make America better!. But if we are not happy to be here, then we should leave!. America is my country and I am proud of her!. An estimated 20,000 Americans went to Canada to escape the Vietnam-era draft and 12,000 other service members deserted to Canada!. Running away is never a solution!.Www@QuestionHome@Com what!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Very interesting for me as an Englishman to see an American berating his countrymen for not being patriotic enough whilst the prevalent impression here is that Americans are extremely patriotic and it is OUR country that needs to wake up before we live in Britainistan!. Meanwhile the Middle Eastern countries berate all of us for being anti muslim/arab/jew/black/non-white/foreigne!.!.!. Reminds me of the joke about two philosophers arguing across an alleyway from facing houses!. They'll never agree because they are arguing from different premises!. I just try to be nice to the people around me and live without making a mess of my own part of the world!. And I try to think for myself!. Oh, I spent time in Canada in the 80's!.
