THE ALARM COULD BE HEARD FROM NEAR AND FROM FAR!. HOW ANNOYING I sound the horn… That’s one of those long brass conical shaped twisty things with the valves!. You’ll recognize the sound!. I bang the gong… You know it, the one that looks like a giant bronze dinner plate!. You’ll recognize the tone!. I ring the bell… Right!. That big one, like up in the tower!. The tone of the gong still reverberates in my ear upon occasion, though I do wish it would stop!. I also know why the bell is no longer heard, near or far!. Amazing what a wee bit of verse can dredge from the memory vault!.
