Question: So, how do you like to eat your apples while pondering!?
An Apple by any other Name!
“The apple, reddish plump
hanging from rooted branch
beckoning to be taken, tasted
to savor deep, sweet, sweet flesh!.”
Now these simple words penned
in poetic form take meaning more
as readers ponder the hidden core!.
Surely a metaphor they surmise…
Maybe a lady… virginal and all
waiting to be taken in whatever way
or the sinly sin, snake charming bites!.
On the mind goes, pondering poets play!.
And timid hands keep downward pose
as the poet posts and waits replies
but one lone soul does venture forth
and braves a response to poet’s pose
“I think it is about eating an apple!”

I think you have gotten to the core of the pome!. It's always nice when your efforts bear fruit!. By the way, in the 4th line of the 1st stanza you seem to have changed the apple from the object to the subject of the verb!. You have turned this sweet delectation into a cannaple!
This is on a par with Sigmund Freud's famous disclaimer about cigars!.

An apple picked by a poet is a poem!. The seriousness of this poem, capped off by the frustration and irony expressed in the last line, is a metaphor, not for virginity or sin, but for the human condition!. I have felt this way many times facing the blank stares of my students!.

I like how the poem tells the reader what the writer might hope the reader will find in his words!. I think the poem is about the opportunities that come up in life, and the sweet taste that can follow their acceptance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
