Question: Consistency in poetry interpretation!?
Very often on this site, I read people saying that there is no objective standard in defining what constitutes poetry!. A poem is whatever people claim is a poem!. Same as art - no strict interpretation as to what art is!. That's why we get a pile of bricks, or an unmade bed, or animal cut in half as examples, so-called, of art!. Am I the only one who thinks this is absolute nonsense!? The trouble with this point of view is this!. If a poem is whatever someone wants to consider as a poem, then surely by the same standard, a poem ISN'T whatever someone chooses to decide is not a poem!. Without an objective standard against which to measure something, then one person's idea of what a poem IS has no more validity than another person's view of what ISN'T!. You think it IS, I think it's NOT!. So nobody's either right or wrong!. Am I the only one to see the absurdity of this!? If nobody's right or wrong, anything goes!? Correct!? Should it really be this way!? Comments please!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Iano, You are very persistent to say the least!.
Yes I see What you are saying,
Yes you are right,in your Description of the True meaning of Poetry!.
But, Other people can not be pulled apart for
what they class as poetry, me included!.
Does it Truthfully matter that much !? Surely the important thing here is that Everyone Enjoys There own version of whatever they wish to call
it! What I Penn To me is Poetry,to everyone else it's probably a load of rubbishy jumbled up words, but am i doing any harm, in writing down the way i feel, that i see myself as Poetry!. Please say you know where I'm coming from!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
