Question: Have you seen reporters interviewing victims of a fire!?
After the Flames
by Elaine P

"How do you feel about the loss
of your home and all your possessions!?"

"I have lived, it seems forever,
I have willed irreplaceable objects
to the next generation!. Now, oh now
everything is gone with the years
and the flames!."

She turned away from the camera,
took one step, turned back:
"All I want now is a little food,
something to cover me at night,
a place to live for just a little longer!.
I cannot stay here on Earth
without my home!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

How I hate those reporters who ask a question like this, sticking a microphone in some-one's face when they are in the midst of some human tragedy!.

I am surrounded by possessions - far more than I really need!. I accummulate more and more each week in fact, I could end up like one of those poor people who go hunting things out of skips!.!.!.but, if my house burned to the ground so long as all my husband, my kids and grandkids were okay!.!.!.I would get over it, I'm sure!. It's only things!.
Good, thoughtful poem!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't have any heirlooms!. My father was a half-brother and the stepmom gave everything to her Grandchildren!. Mom's family was Army, so they only collected what they could carry!.

Once, I bought a piece of art glass for fifty cents that turned out to be worth hundreds of dollars!. Leon jumped up on the mantle and killed it a few days later!. We almost had BBQ cat for dinner that evening!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You've captured the moment wonderfully!. Good thing you just gave her a home on Mars!. Sad poem, I can't imagine what that would be like!. Not so much the house, but my things and memories that mean so much being lost forever is unimaginable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

So sad for this to happen - no matter what your age!. This person seems elderly - for she has already given her precious objects - to the next generation!. Now - she has to "fight" to live!. So often - they go in their sleep - having given up on life!. ?Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's the sorrowful state of the poor!. The moment we talk of this, there are more than a thousand children around the world who miss this little food, that shelter and conditions to live a little longer!. sigh and tears!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's devastating to work so hard and suddenly have nothing!.
BUT: As long as there is love and family there is hope!.
I don't speak from the experience of fire, but I did leave my home with only my 3 year old son and our clothes!.!.!. (And our dog!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is such a sad poem!.

I can't say I ever lost my worldly possesions by fire or floods by that natter!.
But there is a lot of people like my step brother who can relate to this poem!.
