Poetry Dilemma:
I am quite sure that if you
put your mind to it!.
You can write on anything
With paper and pen in hand
pack up a lunch and go to a park
While you are there
look around you there are things to write about
for example
in the park there are always trees

Trees:
Trees add much beauty
to our parks
They take a lifetime to grow
starting from a seed!.
Trees provide shade
along with privacy
Trees come in different kinds
some lose their leaves in fall
Trees have an enemy each year
in the forest, they are fires!.
When this happens it destroys
the homes of the birds!.

That tree poem was an example!.
When you write poetry keep in mind
you will have times where poems will come to you
and other times it doesn't
They can or dont have to rhyme
You can focus on one thing like trees
or go for the whole thing
like nature
which includes birds bees
from your view each season!.
You can write things down as they come to you
It is important that when you write a poem it comes from the heart!.
writing poetry is a talent
it is also considered an art!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're doing the right thing by reading as much poetry as you can!. Read poets from many different time periods!. Read diverse styles of poetry to educate yourself about the many different ways in which experienced writers use language!. Read formal verse (which uses rhyme and meter) and free verse (which doesn't)!. Writing poetry is something you can work at, and reading widely is a great way to work at it!.

"The Ode Less Travelled," which someone has already recommended, is one good book of writing advice for aspiring poets!. Other are "The Poetry Home Repair Manual" by Ted Kooser, "A Poetry Handbook" by Mary Oliver, and "The Poet's Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry" by Kim Addonizio and Dorianne Laux!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just did a writing exercise that worked for me!. Find a poem that you love reading (a short one 8-20 lines)!. Copy the poem while leaving a space between each line!. Write a line of your own between lines one and two that makes sense, continue through the rest of the lines!. When you are done take out the original poem!. You should have some fragmented lines!.!.!.revise them into your poem!.

Usually I have two to three good lines to start with and one or two interesting images!. It helps you to write in a way that you normally wouldn't!. When you are done your poem will look nothing like the original!. While you are doing the exercise don't worry about what the end result will be act like the first poem is your poem!.

It's worked for me a few times now!.!.!.I wish you luck!. And it is something you can work at!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you love reading poetry and love writing, it shouldnt be a problem actually!. i hate reading poetry but LOVE writing poetry and i think i'm quite great in it!.
it will be easier for you to write poetry when you're extremely sad or happy!. so next time, when something bad happens to you, quickly take a pen and a piece of paper, sit down and just write anything you want!. after that, you rearrange the sentences and make a poetry out of it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Truthfully, when i write poetry i am not trying!. I just write off my emotions!. I mean I have been trying to write a poem this week, and it has taken me longer than usual (i still haven't finished it)!. :( Well anyways, i haven't always written poetry!. I started maybe 2 years ago i think!. I just was so frustrated after i broke up with my x-boyfriend!. I never had a way of releasing stress and my feelings!. So I don't know exactly when i got so feed up with it and started writting poetry, but i know that i just got so feed up with it one night that i picked up my pencil and just started writing a poem!. It turned out to be a favorite among my friends (even though they don't know the true meaning of it)!. Point is some people can sit down and write a poem, but some have to be upset or extremely happy or really really really really bored!. Just experiment with it!. You'll eventually get it!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but, perhaps you won't be able to write decent poetry!.

When I first couldn't hold back the flow of words I'd got dammed up inside I wrote all kinds of stuff, some good, some bad, some indifferent - I read loads of poetry old, new, experimental, free, funny - anything!.

I had a friend who would look over my work and show me lots of ways to improve!.!.!.!.she stopped me writing rhyming couplets, for example!. BUT, she couldn't write poetry herself!!
Nope, she was well-read (literary and poetically) but actual poetry writing just didn't happen for her!.
So, obviously, give it your best shot!.!.!.!.but, if it doesn't work out for you - just carry on with your writing!. Philip Larkin (a famous English poet) wanted to write novels!.!.!.I think he wrote two, not very successful ones!.!.!.!.but, found that he was a much better poetry writer than novelist!. Perhaps you will be the other way around!.
Best of luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

Hi there M_2 I can relate and seem to have the same problem with that, my The Ode Less Traveled" is on its way, and my I recommend another book as a must have to you--The New Book Of Forms by Lewis Turco-- this is such a helpful book! Just start writing and posting what you write, you will receive help and insight from even published poets!

I see that 4 published poets have answered your question, so that can't be a bad start! Give it a try, I know your a little afraid, but you have to start somewhere right!! OK there you go, pen in hand!! Cheers!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can explain that very easily, if you're upset, express in the way you can understand yourself!. If you're happy, compare it to something that's also make you happy!. If you sad, do the same thing you do with happy only with sad!. Just do whatever with the poem!. I don't care!. Like, describe the way of sleeping, school, or friends!. It could be about anything!. Just look into your heart and listen to your heart and see what it saying to you!. Use your imagination!!!! That's the best way you could do!. That's the way I do to express my feelings to my poem and you'll be going with the flow already before you know it!. also, try reading someone else's poem and see if they have inspired you!. That's what could help you!. Do something in way of your life time and put it into a put the way you can understand!. It doesn't have to make sense to everybody else and be yourself!. That's all it matters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! What I'm doing to alleviate the situation: I bought "The Ode Less Travelled" by the genius Stephen Fry!. He teaches readers to understand the techniques often used by poets (especially the Iambic Pentameter), as well as the terminology used for said techniques (even includes a glossary!)!. It's very inexpensive and you can find it anywhere!. The best part, he's hilarious! I love his sarcasm; a true wit indeed!

Most importantly, don't get frustrated!. Take your time, and the poetry and/or prose will come to you!. Soon it will be like second nature :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

try try but don't cry!.if you have a potential to do it u will surey do it!. after writing certain poems u will get confident in it and will become famous!. i too write poems!. some times they are good and sometimes bad!. in my motertounge (marathi)thereis a saying,'oil can come by crushing the sand' as u read more and more books you will understand the meaningWww@QuestionHome@Com

Long ago I would have agreed with you, but not anymore!. As long as you think or fantasize you've got a poem going!. Not all of them have to rhyme, you know!. Just as long as you want the poem to come from your heart!. If that don't work try what I used to do when I had a writer's block, write random ideas!. Kind of like jumble, just mold it into your style!. It ought to work and make sense at some point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A poem is a song without notes!. I get a melody going in my head, then slowly begin to swap words in and out until I find some that fit!. If your words stay inside the beat of the music, when you write them down, they become poetry!. It is very easy!. TDWww@QuestionHome@Com

I can only write poetry when I'm insipired or extremely happy!. I start thinking lyrical and write the first sentence!. The rest of it just comes without me having any control!.

Read poetry, specially the ones you like, and wait for some inspiration!.
