Question: Is this a gay poem!?
the day maybe done
and the course may be through
but i'll still have eyes
longing for you

I'll still have my hope
wild and tame
i'll still have these feelings
far from no shame

Just one little thought
before it is done
nothing will change this
you'll always be my oneWww@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, when interpreting poems, there is no definite meanings as to what the poem itself has!. There are hundreds of possible meanings and interpretations to a poem, what we need to understand is that only the poet him/herself knows what it means and what is the poem driving at, because it is up to him/her to construct the words within the poem!.

In poetry critique, besides giving criticisms on the literary devices used by the poet, we also strive to interpret any possible meanings the poem is driving at, and we do this by collecting evidences such as looking at what words could possibly represent in the poem, what hidden meaning could there be within the words, etc!. We also need to know that even the best poetry critic might not know exactly what the poet is writing, but can only come up with the closest interpretation possible!.

As for this poem, whether we interpret it as a gay poem or not, the most important thing we need is to have evidences to back up our interpretations!. If you had read poetry interpretations, you will notice that what comes with the suggested interpretation is many many convincing evidences as to what the poem could mean!. Yes, and the evidences have to be convincing, so that readers can make sense to your interpretation!. Therefore in poetry tests the marker can accept many interpretations as long as the student can come up with convincing theories to explain them!.

Regarding the above poem, i feel that it can fit into a gay theme, but it could also mean that the two lovers are sort of restricted by religious or social boundaries, so that it makes them sinful to love each other such that the feelings are described as "wild" and "shame"!. The word shame might not only suggest a homosexual desire but could also mean a desire which go against religious boundaries, therefore being "shameful"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nothing blatantly homosexual that I can see, although the topic and the treatment of it is a little on the nursery rhyme side!. Love is a pretty complex emotion; why not attempt something more than 5 syllables per line!? Try lengthening your lines by combining "I'll still have my hopes that are both wild and tame" for example!.
Why not something like,

In the presence of ridicule, envy, and fear
I'll still have my hopes that are both wild and tame
And although friends deride us and sneer when we pass
I'll still have these feelings that are so far from shame
