Question: Does this bird enjoy her singing!?
And still she sang

golden, the chains binding
hidden but ever present
restraining, containing, denying
and still she sang

a porcelain bird, displayed
adorned with crystal finery
lacking nothing, lacking all
and still she sang

inviting!.!.!. the outside world
but resting there, unknowns scary
singing free or singing chained
singing now, for her keeper

cages comfort, give limits warmth
freedom is never as it seems
these chains grow easy
and now she’ll singWww@QuestionHome@Com

We grow used to our chains and cages until we forget they exist!. Prisoners incarcerated for life find "freedom" in the yard!. We ordinary mortals find freedom in poetry, imagination, virtual voyages through the Universe and through time!. Your poem is outstanding, professionally stated without one wasted word to detract from its power!. Publishable quality!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am the bird in the cage of gold,
But still I sing as old I grow!.
Once in awhile my feathers get ruffled,
And some folks would like to see me muzzled!.
But still I sing and twitter with all my might
Until some old $%^$%^ puts the cover over me at night!.
I'm not made of porcelain or english bone china
I'm a big old black buzzard called a myna
My bird brain maybe does'nt know how to spell myna
But if you don't like it, take a slow boat to China!.
I'm yakking and squacking,I'm usually a lover
For heavens sake, someone put on the cover!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why The Caged Bird Sings

Malcolm X prisoner!.!.!.
free bird!.!.great orator
honed his craft
behind steel doors!.

Greatness springs
from ropes and chains
adversity slavery
walled up pain
give birth to a love
misunderstood

On the face of freedom
forgiveness is etched
by a lost salt gift of tears
our stomachs are full
of the forgiving flesh
of trapped orchard trees
and breeding stock
the hen

Our ears host
the freedom songs
of caged birds
love poems
forgiving
us our cruel folly~pat ramsden 2008 June, Sunday AMWww@QuestionHome@Com

As usual, BRILLIANT!.!.!.!
I love your poetry and the way you word it!. I like how in L3 you list "restraining, containing, denying!." That's just good writing to me!. You have the writing ability where you can take some thing as simple as a caged bird, and turn into much more!.

<<<By the way, Thanks for answering my questions>>>

Freedom is never as it seems!. Great line!. We get so comfortable in our lives, in relationships, in jobs, etc!.!.!.that sometimes we do not realize the "cage" we have created!. Yet breaking free stirs up a fear!.!.!.will we be less happy than now, will it be a mistake!? And so a lot of us decide to forgo the risk and stay where we are!.
