Question: Perhaps a phrase "generationally" repeated!?
Hello Dad

Hello Dad…I turned around
for a moment… it was me
How are you!? the echo sounded!.
What you doing!? then came next

I guess we train from early age…
Certain things never change
Neither love we feel, now and ever

This is excellent!. It reminds me of the song from "Fiddler on the Roof," Turn Around!. (Turn around and you're little, turn around and you're grown, turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own!.)

Thank you for sharing this!. It means a great deal to me this Father's Day -- I just couldn't shop for a card this year -- even for the men that matter like my uncle, son-in-law and brother!. Some years I can, but not this one!.

Your poem has taken me back to my childhood, so forgive my prose!.

I'm so much like my dad in our love of inventiveness and creativity and engineering; how I wish he were here to teach me what I was too busy to learn when I was young!.

I look a lot like my dad, but also like my mom!. I got lucky; got their brains too -- Dad could look at a problem and give me the solution; Mom would look at the same problem and show me how to get to the solution!.!.!. Now that's luck!.

Yes, I see my parents over and over!. I've taken over doing the techie things Dad did before his death, and a lot of the caring for things Mom did before her health has deteriorated so much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dad never showed me any love
He never held my hand
He never put his arms around me
His love I never had!.
But, he sometimes gave me a certain look
A small thing, yes
But that was all it took
He couldn't help being the way he was
He was a Victorian man!.
I loved my Dad!.

(unedited, straight from the brain, so not polished I know)

Your poem is so simple, but (as always) it has such a lot to say!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For some reason, your poem reminds me of an article I read today, about a punk bar I used to go to when I was in college!.
About how visiting that bar now, on it's 32nd anniversary, is like going to see your grandad, only he has a beer in his hand and his stories are way cooler!.
Then I realized suddenly -- I'm the grandma!

I say things that my folks once said, and acknowledge their ever presence!. I get a special kick when I hear my adult children repeating the same phrases and words of wisdom!. Happy Father's Day!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
