Question: What do you think of my limericks!?
-Roses-
the roses in the flower bed
sprang to life, looked at me and said
we will wilt away
tis nature's own way
but beauty we intend, till death
-the flag-
standing with my face to the wind
a clear and broad message to send
come what may, I'll stand
freedom, I demand
through it all, chest out proud again
-time-
when I was a kid, you were long
I couldn't wait till I was grown
I'm not that same kid
you see, pass you did
and now I wonder where you've goneWww@QuestionHome@Com

As short poems, these are nice, but as limericks these do not quite work for me!. They are not limericks!.
A Limerick is a rhymed humorous or nonsense poem of five lines which originated in Limerick, Ireland!.
The Limerick has a set rhyme scheme of : a-a-b-b-a with a syllable structure of: 9-9-6-6-9!.
The rhythm of the poem should go as follows:
Lines 1, 2, 5: weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak - Lines 3, 4: weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak
This is the most commonly heard first line of a limerick: "There once was a man from Nantucket!."
Example #1:
The Test Pilot
A Plane builder needed a pilot,
So Bob told the guy, he would try it!.
When Bob took to the air,
Plane parts fell everywhere!.
Bob radioed “where shall I pile it!?”

Example #2:
The Man From Aruba
There once was a man from Aruba,
Whose favorite hobby was scuba!.
Every day he would wish,
He could spear a big fish!.
But settled instead for canned tuna!.

* This was dedicated to a Native American, consumate hunter, and good friend:
Curtis is a man who will
Invite you to the house for your fill!.
There’s green beans and taters
And a salad with ‘maters
With something slaughtered and dragged off the hill!.
Amen!. Let's eat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Your poem is beautiful!. I write poetry and like my own very much, but I am a novice when it comes to style and type!. I enjoyed Suzianne's comments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
They're very very good (and an interesting notion--to write lyrical poems in the shape of limericks)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
