Question: Is this poem worthy of a poetry contest!?
If I send it in in the 11-12 year old division, does it have a chance!?
The Siren Song
They draw me down to their watery home
Beneath the sweet sea’s blue-white foam!.
They plead with me forever to stay
And away flies my soul’s last ghost!.
Their promises they never keep,
Existing only in the realms of sleep!.
So I succumb to their gilded lies,
Though always broken when needed most!.
Now that they have pulled me down,
All my free will starts to drown!.
I try to surface; I breathe my last,

I would say yes indeed, it is worthy!. I do not judge on rules alone although, have found them to be important at times!.!.!. you work always has emotion and you are becoming better at putting your thoughts into words!. Though you said you wrote this a while back it still shows you advancement in skill!.!.!.
And what an interesting title!.!.!. especially for one like me to answer!. I always search for poems and other Q!.s about Sirens so i can leave my mark!.!.!. thank you for telling me of this, my time has been limited and I am glad when some of you send me reminders so I can comment!.!.!.

Anything from the ingredients on a dogfood label to ad copy from TV Guide is worthy of a poetry contest!. They only want to sell you a book!. I doubt they even read the entries!.

fix the rhyme scheme!. if anything's gonna keep you from winning, it's that!. pick to rhyme or not to rhyme!.!.!.that'll keep the flow more constant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
