Anniversary

I miss the days when I was young,
A witty word upon my tongue!.
A song was always in my head,
A simple life was what I lead!.

Down at the river's shore I'd be,
Cut off blue jeans and skinned up knee!.
My friends came over on a whim,
And we'd go down to take a swim!.

Up in the oak we tied a rope,
To swing and take a dive, we hope!.
I'd do a flip and sometimes two,
Tried three once to show off for you!.

You laughed so hard then filled with dread,
You thought that I just might be dead!.
You grabbed me when I came back up
And hugged me like a long lost pup!.

I miss those carefree days of youth,
We swore we'd always tell the truth,
So many years we've had good times,
We've been to plays and pantomimes!.

For sixty years we've now been wed,
And never shared another's bed!.
My gift for anniversary,
