The thunderous herd of butterflies
rolls down from the hyacinth!. We tremble not
as the air shakes none!.

The terrible tormented snails charge
as Kipling’s Light Brigade
is told in the gazebo by Aunt Charlotte!.

Lemonade quaffs a parched niece and nephew
as the caterpillars spin a silken hammock
for their afternoon nap!.

Gilgamesh and Josaphat
are new names for two old cats
that sleep in the shade nearby!.

Fairies that look just like dandelion seeds
float in the afternoon air as the tales
of foreign travails flow down from Olympus…

And Auntie’s flask gives her a splash
as she reads to us of sprites and spirits on ice!.
