Question: Pity those more fortunate than ourselves!?!?
in this poem by ezra pound

Come, let us pity those who are better off than we are!.
Come, my friend, and remember
that the rich have butlers and no friends,
And we have friends and no butlers!.
Come, let us pity the married and the unmarried!.

Dawn enters with little feet
like a gilded Pavlova
And I am near my desire!.
Nor has life in it aught better
Than this hour of clear coolness
the hour of waking together

it talks about how we should pity those less fortunate!. Why!? what does this poem mean!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I think in some sense we would should pity those filled with greed, and materlistic happiness!.

I was watching this one show, where this guy, was wearing s watch worth, 250,000$! I'll just barely make that over my lifetime!.
He was buying things left and right, like most rich people do!.
Some get this rush out of a new thing!.
Ex:

Rich woman: A gold necklace how nice!.
"There's the rush!. Then it fades with time!."
Rich woman: Thanks baby for buying me a 200,000$ car for my brithday!. I love it!.

I think the bigger the price, the better the vaule, the happier the rich person!.

I don't have anything against rich people!. But to be so, fastidous, is disguisting!. It's almost like a drug!. Of course the only negative for the greedy person is that one day they may wake up, look around them, and see that their happiness lays in inanimate objects!.
I don't have anything against the rich, just greed!. I think that rich people, can have families and live happy lives with their families!. I think they can love others, be kind, and even be giving, but I would never buy a 200,000$ car or watch!.
I guess they think that buying things is the good life!. I disagree!. I think being content with what you have, learning to love what you have already acquired, learning to love giving more than getting, is far more gratifying than being like the cat or dog, that follows it's own tail, then once bored, finds something else to play with!.
A lot of rich people, probably have serious cases of Add!.
I don't pity the rich!. "I pity the fool!."

also, this poem is to abstract, and too mixed like a can of mixed
nuts, for my liking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
