Question: Are you drawn to cute and fuzzy woodland creatures!?
An Unexpected Meeting

I chanced to spot a fallen nest,
And as I crouched to peer inside,
The ruffian raised his downy head,
And his round eyes grew big and wide!.

He started with a 'cluck' of fright;
Then, catching himself, puffed his chest-
And commenced quite a fearsome 'chirp,'
Mighty champion of his nest!.

I cautiously reached out my hand
And recoiled it in a flash!.
Upon my poor ole tender thumb,
The beast had left an awful gash!.

"Curious thing-" My eyebrow raised!.
Quiv'ring, all his bravery shown!.
With one last glance I walked away-
Some things are better left alone!.
