Question: Personification!?!?!?
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold!.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour!.
Then leaf subsides to leaf!.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day!.
Nothing gold can stay!.

Is "her early leafs a flower" the only personification in the poem!.not sure!.

PERSONIFICATION: is the act of giving human qualities to inanimate objects:
Eden, your allusion, is also your personification!.
"!.!.!.Eden sank to grief" This is a human action given to the concept of Eden!.

METAPHOR:
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one object or idea is applied to another, thereby suggesting a likeness or analogy between them!.
I'll bet if you think about this you'll figure it out!.
The metaphor is that Nature is a "Her" A singular female being!.

"her early leafs a flower" Is not personification!.
Think about it!.

The only reason I decided to answer this question is because you were getting incorrect information which could have been very bad for you!. You can't count on the fact that the answers you get are correct!. This really should be a lesson to you in the future!. I'm hoping you will take a moment to study the definitions that I gave you and try to make some sort of effort to understand the differences between personification and metaphors!. It's also good to remember that brain cells are interesting in that if you don't use them, you lose them!. Start doing your own homework!. This was not a difficult assignment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am shocked you are asking Yahoo users to do your homework for you!. For shame, young one, for shame!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
