Memorial Day

Our bones lie here, in cold hard ground,
Alone but in a crowd!.
Some of us in clothes interred,
And some in but a shroud!.

We fought in wars and there we died,
We all thought we were right!.
And now in sleep the dead do weep,
Throughout this endless night!.

Each year we see the ones who bring,
The flowers to us here!.
And though we have no hearts to feel,
It fills our bones with cheer!.

Remembered souls can come to life,
As fleeting memories!.
Yes, even those who sank in ships,
Out on embattled seas!.

This day each year is set aside,
So you remember us!.
We like to see you bringing gifts,
And making such a fuss!.

Then back to sleep this lonely sleep,
This sleep that never ends!.
Except that special day each year,
