Question: Hi, I need to analyse this poem but I don't understand the methaphor of the last line!.!?
(It is a poem about a misunderstanding love)
How can it be we grew apart!?
We didn't have what's in your heart!?
I wish I'd known right from the start,
BUT THAT'S THE WHEEL BEFORE THE CART! (This line)

Thank you so muchWww@QuestionHome@Com

It may be a take on the saying "Don't put the cart before the horse!." which means begin at the proper place; do things in their proper order!.!.!.!. which in this poem it has reference to the line before!.!. we often go into love with a blind eye and can't predict the outcome!.!.!. hence "wheel before the cart"!. Although I think Wheel before the cart is a poor metephor based on the basic construction of a cart!.!. I mean the wheel is not really in front or behind the cart!.!.!. but I have no idea about what sort of cart/wheel combo it was being compared to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
