Since sonnets were originally about loving someone, it would be natural to write on about someone specific!.!.!.not one on the concept of love, but one about loving "someone" in your life (or a ficticious someone)!. Think about the other sonnets you've read, especially the Shakespearean sonnets and you'll see that although they are different, they are actually very much alike!. It isn't only your originality that will count in the competition, it will also be how natural your rhymes sound, whether or not you stay in iambic pentameter, how natural the flow is from line to line and stanza to stanza, and whether or not you have a turn at the final couplet!.
