The un-things I love about apartment life by TD Euwaite The eight horsepower tiller was like that mare at Imperial Beach that I tried to ride bareback!. The string trimmers… Light-weight two-stroke pukes!. They hung unused since the advent of battery power!. The pull-start chipper, only 50 or 60 pulls before it fires!. The green Honda-powered self-propelled high-wheel Yardman!. We are living at the same time in the same country, and presumably speak the same language!. But I've been a city boy all my life, and evidently you are from the suburbs or countryside!. Yet it is amazing to me how many of the referents are unfamiliar!. I think I figured out most of them, but!.!.!.!.!. what is a "puke!?"Www@QuestionHome@Com Yes, it's brilliant and definitely funny! It lives in the American idiom and breathes real poetry!. I might have taken out "that" in line 3 and put most of the info in line 11 into line 10 to increase the absurdity, maybe leaving "Yardman" by itself in line 11 or making the line "Yardman!. Unmatched"!. But that's just me!. Kudos! (Oh, I forgot: I love "un-things"!)Www@QuestionHome@Com Yes, it I like!. Powered devices I will not use: Lawn mower String trimmer hedge trimmer roto-tiller snow blower!.!.!.!.!.(Yes, I shoveled all of that snow with an actual shovel!) iron (well, maybe once a year!)
