I wrote this poem about a friend of mine who died far too early!.

If I could write!.
This pen would draw!.
Every feeling!.
Every flaw!.
If I could sing!.
My voice would play!.
How much I miss you!.
More and more each day!.
If I could whisper!.
My breath would sigh!.
After every question!.
An unanswered why!.
If I could feel!.
My hand would reach!.
Below the stone!.
My arms beseech!.
If I could cry!.
There’d be a million tears!.
For all this love!.
After all these years!.
If I could die!.
My soul would sleep!.
No more sorrow!.

It is a poem grounded in your love and sorrow!. You could clean up parts and edit some sections to make it a better poem, but it will never express more than you've already written!. Since you're not entering it in any contests, I'd recommend you leave it just as your wrote it, because it serves and a humble tribute to both your friend and your feelings at the time!.
