What do you look for in a critique?

Question: What do you look for in a critique!?

I have noticed that people who post poems here are not very specific about what kind of feedback they want!. Are you seeking "positive affirmations" about what you have written, or do you want objective opinions and some advice you can use to improve your poetry!?

When I see people ask for a rating from 1 to 10, I wonder how the responses could be of any value to the writer!. Would more specific questions lead to better critiques!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would choose suggestful points that I can use!. Panning something just for the sake of hearing yourself speak is unproductive to me!. If you don't like it at all, be kind in saying or just move on!. To me the number of responses tells me the overall view of what I posted!. The vast majority here, including myself, are not poet laureates, we just enjoy reading and writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When i post a poem i am mainly looking for either positve comments or ways i can improve it!. I don't mind if someone said they didn't like it, but all i ask for is a reason why and a way i can make it better!. The poeple that ask for a rating i think probably just want a broad opinion of if people like it, not reasons why and not ways to change it, kind of like a "yay" or "nay" percentage vote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Neonman stated it quite well!. If I find something I really enjoy, but do not care to comment, I'll 'star' it!. I don't do 'dark' or lonely lover cratering over a loss!.!.!.(entirely too many of those)!. Am not versed enough in the genre to be able to offer constructive criticism (save grammar and spelling)!. Specific is better if youre borrowing a writers time!.

I personally look for malice & bitterness!.!.!.!.but I write songs & paint!.
