We've started interpreting poetry in AP English 12, and it was quite a shock to me that I knew almost none of the authors my fellow classmates brought in to read from!.
I feel slightly uneducated, and I was wondering if there are any authors that any of you believe to have wonderful works that I can start reading!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It all depends on how much you're willing to spend (time and money)!. If you'd like to buy a book of poetry, I'd suggest "Best Loved Poems of the American People" as it has a good cross section of poems and styles!.!.!.as well as a section entitled "poems that tell a story"!. If you'd just like a few famous poems to google, try these: The Cremation of Sam Magee (by Robert Service) Evolution (aka "when you were a tadpole and I was a fish", by Langdon Smith) The Walrus and the Carpenter (by Lewis Carroll) If (by Rudyaird Kipling) The Road Less Travelled (by Robert Frost) Stopping by woods on a snowy evening (by Robert Frost) Kubla Khan (by Coleridge) The Raven (by E!.A!. Poe) Annabelle Lee (by E!.A!. Poe) This is a mere sampling of some more notable poems, but there are literally thousands of famous poems and poets out there!. Those listed above are all available for free online!.!.!.just google them and you can read them at your pleasure!. I'd suggest you to get those kinds of compilation cause it will contain poems from all canonical poets such as Shakespeare, Blake, Shelley, Byron, Keats, Yeats, Emily Dickinson, John Donne, Chaucer etc!. Please take this advise!. Those are canonical poets!. Reading canonical poet compilation series will surely lay down a strong foundation in your literary and poetic knowledge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
