Somber Thoughts
by TD Euwaite

I flip through the pages
Like passing along hallowed halls
In quiet reflection
There’s Uncle Charlie, class of 40, a year behind Dad
He looks like his grandchildren
There’s mom and her mom and hers
All three on one bench, playing one piano
Dad’s newspaper clippings of raids on Berlin
Each chapter has a war
Each page has a hero
Then I look in the mirror
Is there wisdom
Is there strength
Do I belong in the book!?
