What Are We Here For

What exactly are we here for,
Does anyone know for sure,
Are there any signs of evolution,
Are we going to die from pollution,
Are there any correct theories,
None that would fear me,
Or are we here all alone,
With no place to call home,
Who do we call upon,
Are friends, or are foes,
What are we here for,
No one knows for sure,
Is there a higher power above us,
One that we can truly trust,
Or are we trapped by the government,
That control where our money is being spent,
What are we here for,
No one knows for sure!.

I would say, respectfully, that the reference to the government and spending our money detracts from what is a very fine philosophical poem!. The not knowing strain is very strong!.

I couldn't but to help the line
Are we going to die from pollution
I think of earth day!.
The question what are we here for
no one knows for sure!.
The poem talks about no homes
for people where do they live!.
Are we trapped by the government
