This poem definitely has a deeper meaning!. Some how i get feeling that it was talking about the way things use to be before civilization!. The something that doesn't love a wall would be the people who were not allow beyond certain boundary!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I cannot see the poem, just a statementWww@QuestionHome@Com

Remember another line from the poem:
"good fences make good neighbors"
The wall is the interface between Frost and
his fellow man!.
There are two views in opposition here:
'people should be closer and more open' , and
'people should observe the proper boundaries'!.
The "Something there is that doesn't love a wall" ,
described as frost heaves etc!. can be seen as
the everyday troubles that sometimes draw
people closer, sometimes divide them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Irv has it pretty well!. I think the "something" is deliberately meant to be vague!. An abstract force!? Nature!? God!? (Elves!?)

You may be interested to know that, in the summer of 1962, not long after the Berlin Wall was built, Frost visited Russia and read some of his poems!. The line "Something there is that doesn't love a wall" got a VERY stony reception! About six months later, the day (or maybe the day before or after) Frost died, part of the Berlin Wall collapsed because the ground had frozen under it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
