Question:The dark.
Never spoken a word,
Yet, it tells you all you need to know-
Stay away.

Deep in the recesses of it’s mystery
You don’t have a clue
Whether your eyes are open,
Or if they are shut.
It, frankly, does not make a difference.

It’s only enemy?
The light.

Light answers your questions,
It gives you conclusion.
Dark is merely a guess
Of what is right in front of your nose.

The sense of wonder
Comes to mind-
What was that noise?
Who’s there?
You never know.

You should not run away from the dark,
Or be frightened by it,
For it has done nothing wrong.
It has caused you no harm.
It cannot cut your skin
Nor make you bleed.

No, dark has done nothing to cause the pain
That you cause yourself.
In the dark, you become more aware
Of every little pin that dropped suddenly
Even the dust that fell from the ceiling fan
Made a noise louder than any gun could have.

Whoa girl... dang...... You are describing it JUST right! Darkness never hurts us, we hurt ourselves by listening to the "nothingness" it possesses, therefore, its not even there to help us (nor it harms us). I think you are really introspective (A very deep-thinking person), and you spoke your thought about the dark just like you see it in your mind! Good Job!!! Congrats, not all of us have the talent to explain something so deeply! I loved it!

this poem is good one of the best i read keep the poem coming becuase this one is the bomb

I think you have a nice subject to pursue, but you need some major editing. Also, try reading the words aloud to get a sense of meter. There should be some rythm to them. An example would be the first stanza. Try this for something different: (1) The dark, speaks not a word (2) Yet, tells you all (3) Stay away, stay away. Keep at it, who knows, you may develop the passion that your teacher has. Good luck.

great messages and opinions keep up the good work

that's a really good poem especially since your only 14!! i can only imagine how good you'll be in a few years keep it up!!!

This is actually a really good poem. I like the personification of the dark in there and also your idea that it is not dark itself that causes fear, but the phantoms we ourselves create in the dark. I like the way you write and you should continue to work on perfected this poem. Also, I'd be interested to see what else you could come up with. Great job!
