Where the Sidewalk Ends There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends. A LIGHT IN THE ATTIC There's a light on in the attic. Thought the house is dark and shuttered, I can see a flickerin' flutter, And I know what it's about. There's a light on in the attic. I can see it from the outside. And I know you're on the inside... lookin' out. lol your on the internet..thats better then a library I don't love poems i love this one: All the Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas Layin' in the sun, Talkin' 'bout the things They woulda coulda shoulda done... But those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas All ran away and hid From one little Did. :) oooooooooooooooo i have 1 ok its from where the sidewalk ends and its called Lazy Jane thats my fav one good luck :) I love poems. At school we have just done a poem unit also one of my poems is being put in a book. go to www.poethunters.com i like poems a lot but if you maybe want to find some poems with some deeper meaning than read the bible i mean it isn't all boring and a lot of it is really interesting and cool! :D like this morning when i was reading my bible i found this really cool verse-poem Why do you see the speck of saw dust that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the plank that is in your own eye? and basically what this means is fix yourself before you start judging others...pretty deep huh lol I do, poetry is so important to our psychological well being as o0ur physical. Words are the way we communicate with one another. Poetry is the art in which we express ourselves be it an ode, haiku, or Bantu.Words, rhythm, rhyme they all have their place in time. I am sorry that I do not know any of Mr/Mrs.,Ms. Silversteins work I have consigned myself to classical literature/poetry. You know writers like Shelly, Browning,Keats, and Kipling,Wordsworth, Whitman just to name a few. i really think poems are a big ****. I mean, you can basically write anything down on a piece of paper. Add some rhyme, and lovely words and voila! You get attention!... |
