Position:Home>Poetry> I'm writing a poem and i need help. What are words that rhyme with "Com

Question:Please consider this; poetry is about a great deal more than rhyming words, and unrhymed (or unrhythmic) poetry filled with sharp, vivid image is far preferable to "rhyming, rhythmic" poetry that is stilted, stale, bland, and meaningless because the poet thought the meter and rhyme were everything. They are not.

That said, this is a word that requires either a slant rhyme (words like: contraction, compaction, etc.) or an alliteration rather than a rhyme. Alternatively, move that word to another part of the line and put a different word at the end (eg: from "you are my companion" to "companion? You are mine".)

Canyon

Nothin, but try moving the word to the middle of the line, and then have the line ending less predictable.

It would be easier if you put the whole poem on, or at least the line companion is in.

mm i dont got much for you..maybe canyon. kinda sucks but it could work maybe?

Canyon

canyon?

Spanian
Onion (?)
Champion (?)

I'm not sure about the last 2, they are from mom.

Lil G....please remember this. Writing poetry isn't about rhyming...its about you....about how you think, feel.....you could move the word to another part of your line, find another word that has the same meaning that is easier to rhyme, but, if you put so much thought into finding a rhyme, you'll lose the meaning of what it is you're trying to say.
Try this....just sit and write out your thoughts...don't worry about rhyme or meter, length of line, etc....just let your thought flow.
The read it, and try to put it in order, to put it in a way that it means the same, but follows some sort of structure.
Take a look at the sites below....its good information for writing poetry. Good Luck!

The best resource I know for finding rhymes is located at:

http://www.rhymezone.com/

All you need do is type in the word and choose your option from the drop down box.

'Companion' returned the following rhymes:
banyan, branyon, canion, canyon, gagnon, lanyon, mannion

GOOD LUCK

canyon

As many have said here canyon is about the only thing that actually almost rhymes with companion but I agree with most of the others as I have been told as well. You don't have to rhyme. Put it in the middle of your line and make the end easier. I guess you have a good poem up until you got to this line. Switch it around some and try again.

Abandon almost rhymes, and depending how strict you are, might be acceptable. Opens the door for other similar words as well...

2 syllables:

3 syllables:
grand canyon
