Do you love writing poems, but hating reading them?

But I love writing them.

If you want to learn to write poetry, you have to read it. You cannot become a skilled writer without reading to see what it is that people like to read.

Trust me on this one.

Of course, you might never intend to write for other people, just for yourself. When writing, in general, that's the best way to look at it, because then, not getting published won't bother you. However, writing is more than just an art; it's a craft, and the more you learn about it (by reading the works of people who have done it before you) the better you do it.

It might simply be that you dislike the poetry you've been exposed to (and if you're a young person, particularly one only exposed to poetry in high school English classes, I don't blame you!!) There are a LOT of published poets out there; you don't have to stick with things that are a hundred (or more) years old, or write that way either.

i love to read poems, i tried writing, but, nah... not really good at it.

The poem is a beautiful collection of thoughts and images. If you hate reading them, mon ami, you may want to examine why this is. Is it boring? Then you are obviously not making the connections to the poem. If you do love writing them, then take that goodness from your poems and use it to read a poem -- like lenses of a spectacle.

um yes and no...everyonce in a while, i found i had to know the right poets...the 'beat' poets were great(amiri baraka, kerouac, and ginsberg), cummings was fine, and frost...was pretty brilliant.

well, i luv reading other people's poems
a poem is commonly a way to express one self and if you dont like reading other poems, perhaps you're a bit self centred only caring about your thoughts. besides, other poems show different ideas than what you have

Yes...feel the same way...especially those that are trying to "get out their emotions"
I do it to make me feel better...
so I asume when im going to read someone elses who did the same...that its kind of like smelling their poo....i just dont want to....just keep it to yourself kind of attitude...dont know wy just pees mof .
