Question: Do you think labeling a miserable situation 'temporary', is just being delusional!?
I read some question today where the poster asked if suicide was selfish!. There was one answer that kind of bothered me!. The person said that suicidalist is a 'coward for ending it over something temporary'!. I wondered about this!.!.!.

I know a few people who have stayed in a miserable marriage because it is 'easier' than divorce and they think it's honorable to stay!. Yes, they have made this choice, to stay, but this is one situation where temporary could be 40 years! I don't know if this would be a good example of where someone would commit suicide, probably not, but overall, even if you are slightly depressed!.!.!. what is a temporary situation in life!? Isn't every situation that isn't obviously temporary, actually supposed to be considered long term!.!.!.!?

I think people who deem a situation temporary, when they aren't in it, are deluded! It's all about perception and what is temp to me, might be forever for another person!.!.!.!.

I hope this makes sense!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, it couldn't be "forever"- forever is much longer than the life span of any human being!.
I think you have to understand that death is permanent, and the situations we find ourselves in are not!. We are always free at any moment to change our minds, actions, feelings!.!.!.it is incorrect to say that I HAVE to stay in a bad situation!. The reality is I made the CHOICE to stay in a bad situation, and every second of the day offers me a chance to make a different choice!.
Once I'm dead, I can't make anymore choices!. Forever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you're upset over the wrong word!. I would think calling someone who obviously has a problem a "coward" (opinion) is more insulting than calling his or her situation "temporary" (fact)!.
By definition, anything that any living human can experience is temporary!. Temporary does not mean short-term, it means that it will eventually end!.
While I agree that perception is very important, it doesn't actually change the meaning of a word!. Sorry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sometimes it is said to give a person hope "this is a temporary situation" yes what you said makes sense to me but in the case of suicide the one committing the suicide maybe should have been patience a little while longer maybe things would have changed but they will never know i don't think suicide is the way to solve problems its like running away from your problems instead of facing them and working them out in the case of the marriage i think people stay in this type of marriage because at least they know what they got and feel secure in that feeling and dont know what the future holds if they should divorceWww@QuestionHome@Com

I agree!.
Temporary can mean 1 seconds or 100 years!.
There are no ISO 9000 standard on the temporary!.

However, suicide is a mental problem!. Those who did it, cannot think out of a box!. They drive themselves into a corner and assume that it is the dead end!. Those who can help them should get them out of the box and away from the corner!. Make them think positive and open new doors for them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I guess everything in our lives, including life itself, is temporary!.

That doesn't make it any easier to deal with!.

I find it strange, that killing yourself, which makes it MORE temporary, is seen as a bad thing on that account!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well you just have to train yourself to have better expectations of the future!. And yeah I know it's definitely not easy, but if you are determined you can make it out of that deep pit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everything in this plain of existence it temporary!. Perhaps the whole concept of delusion is but a moment in time that is soon to pass!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's an old saying, "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem!." That's probably what the poster meant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is always a 'Light at the End of the Tunnel', if You look for it (And Want It)!.!.!.!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
