Question: Doesn't "science" often just over simplify what we already know!?

Science very often gives names to things and in their naming think that they have defined them!. But everything is still as much a mystery as it was before!.

addendum:
I do find it amusing that quantum physicists are only now coming up with theories that correlate back to what mystics have been saying about the nature of existence for centuries!.

Mysticism has no need of science and science has no need of mysticism !. But I am a human being and I need both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One may have experienced the laws of nature but one may not have known them!. Science precisely states what the laws are in general terms and it that way it simplifies!. And if it is applied it calculates, measures and real objects and may in the process become very complex exercise for some which may seem simple also who understands!. So ultimately it depends on the whether science is simple or complex!. Even Science says so as per the theory of relativity!. The same thing may not have the same affections on all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only job of science is to disprove peoples crazy ideas about the things that they see using the evidence available to them and to help invent cool gadgets!. I suppose "what you already know" would be a relative term, as people with religion would tell you that they already know how the earth was formed, just like a scientist will tell you the same!. Perspective amigo!.!.!.!.!.it actually means more than you might think out here!.

How does everyone here like your cell phones, pretty cool huh!? I guess science is good for something!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I hate to bring up Einstein, that nasty fraud, but his wife's theory (specific relativity) is hardly self-evident!. It contradicts Newton's gravity (which was hardly obvious until he expressed it that way!.) And relativity predicted almost exactly how much energy a nuclear blast would give off (the difference was more the measuring devices than the math!.)

ONCE science explains something it seems easy!. We have ALL seen Rutherford's model of the atom with electrons like planets whizzing around the sun-like nucleus!. Unfortunately SCIENCE showed that that model was WRONG!. So what is obvious or simplified is SELDOM SCIENCE!.

You mean PBS oversimplifies science and makes you think THAT is what science IS!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, but sometimes we have to simplify what we know to actually understand what we know and then move forward!. It all starts with establishing a base which we can build on and the base has to be a solid foundation of things with you may already know but they still need to be said!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no it doesn't,because science change every generation and we have to deal with it!.we have to discover new things evrey now and then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.!.!.disagree!.!.!.
!.!.!.science discovers and documents many things and continue to update their data!.!.!.
!.!.!.im glad cause there are many other things i can still learn with their help!.!.!.
