Question: Excessive nostalgia !?
hey i am 15, and over the last couple of months I have become incredibly nostalgic, before i used to just feel strong nostalgia about people and youth, but now it is triggered by absolutely everything!. All i need to do is watch the sunset or see a photo, and i have an overwhelming desire to be in the past, everything seems like it was so much better then!. Part of me loves it, sometimes i see a photo of the world or i pass through a place i have never been before, and it is beautiful that i somehow feel nostalgia, but i am worried it is too excessive, school is all about work and i am very shy, i have no shortage of friends but so many people don't even notice i'm there!. I feel as though i am escaping through this emotion, and for the last couple of years, it is my daydreams of an exciting future filled with adventure that keeps me going, i want to see the world, unlike a lot of people at my school i am appreciative of the wild and am not driven by money, i crave ths adventure and excitement, i can't get through one day without thinking about it!. Basically i am worried that i am not focusing enough on the present, is this a normal thing, any advice would be appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow I can totally relate, especially this winter!. Everything reminds me of summer and just makes me feel extremely sad!. But don't worry about it!.!.!. Usually times like those are times when I make realization about myself and others!. But its totally normal, your probably just a deep person!. What you can do about it immerse yourself in things relating to what your nostalgic about and try to understand whats making you so nostalgic!. What's funny is you seem to have the same problem as me, a lot of times when I pass throughCali or Nevada I seriously want to stop and stay for awhile, or when I see picture of Barbados or Easter Island I feel like I need to visit those areas!. I found that excercise helps me when it comes to flushing out my thoughts about whatever I'm obbssessed with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I feel exactly the same way!. It could be the winter!. Where I live (Chicago), it's been pretty much consistently snowy and cold since the end of November, and for the past week the temperatures have seldom risen above zero!. Usually I can embrace the winter but this year it's been especially difficult, cuz it's usually far too cold to venture outdoors even for a few minutes!. With little sunlight and schoolwork being hard and what not, I find myself drifting off into nostalgia and daydreams as well!. I've had final exams all week, and instead of studying I'll look up airfare to some faraway place that I can't afford to travel to!.

There's nothing weird or abnormal about it!. In fact, if I never had those thoughts, I would consider myself a pretty shallow person!. I would definitely recommend writing your thoughts down, or any form of expression: Photography, painting, talk to people, write music/play music!. Or try executing on your dreams!. Get away on a vacation someplace warm, or like someone else said already, consider a study abroad program!. You could really experience another part of the world!. Try AFS or just google around programs and stuff!. Planning things that actually could happen and that you can look forward to!.

And lastly, just keep doing what your doing!. An adventure-filled exciting life is fun!. Enjoy it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well!. I think this is a great quality in a person because you can be creative!. Ever think about writing a book or short stories about your escapes!?!? You should try to see if you could do a student abroad program!.!.!.seems like you need to get away and see what the world is like!. You are 15, so college is coming up soon!! that's awesome because you could totally go anywhere in the world ;) you might want to balance your daydreams and reality but I don't think it can hurt you!! This is motivation people wish they had!.!.!.you just have to place it somewhere and that is your choice!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
