I think the Chicken its self came first!. I think a bird like dinosaur laid an egg with a deformity!. Then it kept on changing throughout time until there was a chicken then it stayed as what we know as a chicken!. Then the Chickens egg came!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The chicken!. A fully grown chicken is capable of taking care of itself and capable of producing eggs, while an egg is incapable of even hatching without the mother hen to keep it warm and protected!. Therefore, the egg requires the chicken to survive and is incapable of becoming a chicken without one that already exists!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The egg!. Without an egg, how can a chicken be born!? also, it's the only one that makes sense!. I mean, I know that god creates everything, and I believe in god, but a chicken isn't just going to randomly appear out of nowhere!. Many people laugh at this question, because they assume that it is trivial and uninteresting, or at least obviously erronoeus to even ask!. Well, I believe they are wrong!. The essence of this question gets at an issue that strikes through the very heart of Philosophy!. The issue is about modeling!.

Theoretical idealism is when we mistake the model for the thing being modeled!. For example, believing that a photograph is what is really-real about the physical situation actually photographed!. Sounds absurd huh!? Jean Baudrillard, a great post-modern philosopher, spoke about confusing the map with the territory!. The sad thing is that contemporary Man, including scientists today, confuse the model with the Real routinely!. One example of such a confusion is when we become puzzled by questions like: "What came first the chicken or the egg!."

The way to get around this problem is to recognize that the concepts 'chicken' and 'egg', in this case function like names!. We look at a specific thing in the world and we call it a chicken or an egg!. There are grey areas, but we know more or less how to use these words: they have customary contexts!.

What puzzles us is when we lose the phenomena - when the object we are trying to pigeon-hole with those concepts escapes between our legs!. Instead of realizing the limitations of our model, we assume that there is more of a profound problem than there really is!.

The answer to this great philosophical question "What came first the chicken or the egg!?" is that it sets up a false dichotomy, and also that the words are too vague and ambiguous to sustain such a rigid dichotomy across all cases where the labeling occurs!. We can clarify those terms 'chicken' and 'egg', but then we lose cases that we want to ordinarily associate with that concept!. This is called creating a "technical term!."

When we ask the question, "What came first the chicken or the egg!?" we are holding the model too firmly and forgeting about the complexity of the real phenomena we ordinaily label with those terms!.
